Two plates of chicken biryani, a complaint that the food was too salty and a quarrel over payment allegedly culminated in a stabbing at a hotel in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area, with the police apprehending two juveniles for attacking a 25-year-old worker, an officer said on August 24, Monday.

The incident took place on August 21 at a hotel in Kabutar Market, where the two customers, aged 14 and 15, allegedly picked up a quarrel with the hotel staff after finishing two plates of chicken biryani and objecting to its taste, the police said.

According to an officer privy to the investigation, the two first ordered two plates of chicken biryani and ate the food completely. When the hotel worker, Ehasan, asked them to pay for the meal, they allegedly started arguing, claiming that the biryani had no taste and was too salty.

“The accused first ordered two plates of chicken biryani. They finished the biryani and when the worker asked them to pay money for the food, they picked up a quarrel saying that the food has no taste and was over salty,” the officer said.

The officer said the hotel worker Ehasan initially tried to handle the situation and pacify the two customers, but they kept arguing with him. The confrontation soon turned violent

Investigation And Apprehension Of Juveniles

According to the complaint given by hotel owner Siraj, the argument escalated when the two customers allegedly attacked Ehasan, with a sharp vegetable-cutting knife before fleeing the spot.

Ehasan, was taken to JPC Hospital by his neighbour after the incident. The police received information from the hospital around 9.07 pm, following which a team reached there.

The injured man was later referred to RML Hospital for further treatment. A forensic team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation.

Subsequently, an FIR under sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intentions) of the BNS was registered at Welcome police station.

A team was formed to identify and trace those involved. The police examined available leads and conducted searches to locate the suspects.

“Police teams acted swiftly after receiving the PCR call and eventually traced and apprehended both suspects. During verification, they were found to be juveniles aged 14 and 15. During questioning, the two admitted their involvement in the incident,” a senior police officer said.

The weapon allegedly used in the attack was also recovered from them.

The police said further proceedings in the case are underway.
