Squire Patton Boggs Advises Indra on the Formation of Its Joint Venture with NATS to Advance Airport Technology Solutions

Squire Patton Boggs has advised Indra on the formation of Igonair, a new joint venture established with NATS, the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, to develop technology solutions aimed at improving the efficiency and operational capacity of airport control towers.

The new company, which is 51% owned by Indra, will be headquartered in Spain and has been created to advance cutting-edge digital automation tools designed to optimise air traffic management at airports facing increasing congestion and operational complexity.

The partnership combines Indra’s technological expertise in air traffic management (ATM) systems with NATS’ operational experience at some of the world’s most complex airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick. The joint venture aims to develop solutions that increase airport capacity, enhance operational coordination and address the challenges arising from growing air traffic volumes and an increasingly demanding operational environment.

Through Igonair, both companies are already exploring a range of business opportunities in international markets, including Spain, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, the United States and Asia, against a backdrop of growing demand for advanced solutions that enable more efficient air traffic management.

The Squire Patton Boggs team advising Indra on the transaction was led by partner Rocío García, supported by senior associate Luis Gutiérrez and associate Elena Ferrer from the firm’s Corporate and M&A practice.
