The character is an edit of the pre-existing character Lucy Wilde, and she’s been spreading across the platform throughout late June 2026. But allegedly, her origins go back years.

The phrase, “mi mug tea,” is purportedly a reference to a 2020 post by TikToker @marttwpz, whose account has since been privatized.
According to some TikTokers, in 2020, Marttwpz posted an edit of Lucy Wilde with a blue dress, long nails and dark hair with a version of the caption, “my mug tea.” “Mug” refers to her face, and “tea,” in this context, means that her face looks good. The character is meant to be her original Despicable Me character, Teresa.
Allegedly, the character was posted as rage-bait, and inspired other ragebait Despicable Me OCs that year. Then, in June 2026, the character resurfaced when TikToker @delta.aa posted a stylized edit referencing and featuring her.
It’s worth noting that this origin is unconfirmed and based on second-hand accounts in comment sections related to the 2026 iteration of the meme.
