Aberdeen promotes McGrath to head of ESG fixed income

Aberdeen Investments has announced the promotion of Kate McGrath to head of ESG, fixed income, from ESG senior investment manager.

In her new role, McGrath will continue to report to Jonathan Mondillo, global head of fixed income at Aberdeen. She will be responsible for ESG oversight across the fixed-income department and sustainability-focused strategies and mandates.

She will also be responsible for setting and delivering on the firm’s fixed income ESG strategy and will continue to lead the implementation of ESG processes, tools and frameworks across the fixed income team.

McGrath has been part of the Aberdeen team for more than seven years, initially starting as a risk graduate, before moving into the ESG fixed income team in 2020.

She said: “My focus will be on continuing to strengthen our best‑in‑class ESG integration and frameworks, while ensuring they are applied consistently and effectively across our fixed income sub‑asset classes.”

Aberdeen’s Mondillo added: “Kate has a strong track record of building, embedding and advancing our sustainable investment capabilities, working closely with investment teams and clients alike.”

McGrath will succeed Marianne Zangerl in the role, who was recently appointed as global head of multi-asset and alternative investment solutions at the firm.
