Hudson River Trading taps CoreWeave for research platform

Quantitative trading firm Hudson River Trading (HRT) has signed on to use CoreWeave’s AI cloud for its research platform.

HRT will use Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 compute via CoreWeave’s cloud for AI-powered trading research and model development, under a multi-year agreement.

HRT will also utilize Nvidia HGX B200 GPU systems.

The contract has been described as a multi-billion-dollar agreement, but the exact value of the agreement has not been stated.

“As we scale our AI and machine learning research, the AI platform we build on matters as much as the models we build,” said Kevin Lee, head of R&D at HRT. “We chose CoreWeave because they understand what it takes to run AI in demanding production environments, and because we’re confident they’ll scale alongside us as our ambitions do. Giving our researchers access to the latest AI technology is exactly what lets a research team like ours push further, faster.”

“Financial services is one of the most demanding proving grounds for AI,” added Jon Jones, chief revenue officer at CoreWeave. “HRT is one of the companies setting the standard for what it means to bring AI into production in a performance-critical environment. CoreWeave is built to be the cloud that serious AI workloads run on, and this partnership reflects the trust that the world’s most sophisticated organizations are placing in us.”

HRT is also a customer of neocloud Lambda, having signed on to use Nvidia HGX B200 systems in May of this year. Similarly, the company cited its growing compute needs as a motivator for the agreement.

The deal with CoreWeave comes just after fellow quantitative trading firm IMC selected the neocloud for similar use cases. Jane Street also signed on to secure $6 billion in AI cloud capacity from CoreWeave earlier this year.
