Fresh local produce is the main attraction for shoppers at the Strathmore Farmers’ Market, according to the results of a recent community poll.
The poll asked residents what their favourite part of the popular weekly market is, with fresh fruits, vegetables and locally grown products receiving 41.27 per cent of the vote. A total of 26 respondents selected local produce as their top reason for attending.
The atmosphere and sense of community ranked second, earning 20.63 per cent of the vote, or 13 responses. Many markets have become more than just a place to shop, serving as gathering spaces where residents can connect with neighbours, enjoy live entertainment and spend time with family and friends.
Baked goods and treats placed third with 14.29 per cent of the vote, followed closely by handmade crafts and artisan products at 12.7 per cent. Meeting local vendors and farmers rounded out the poll at 11.11 per cent.

The results highlight the market’s role in supporting local agriculture while also providing a social and cultural hub for the community.
