The Rivers State Police Command said it has arrested a 50-year-old suspect, identified as Godwin, over the alleged defilement of two minors, aged 13 and 11, at Ogale in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested on Monday by operatives of the Eleme Police Division at his residence, following a formal complaint lodged by the parents of the affected minors.
The father of the 13-year-old victim alleged that the suspect had been sending the two children on errands and would later invite them into his room after they returned with the items he had asked them to buy.
According to him, the suspect allegedly locked the door and increased the volume of his music before sexually assaulting the children.
He further alleged that after the incident, the suspect threatened to deal severely with the girls if they disclosed what had happened to anyone.
The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, confirmed the arrest of the suspect when contacted.
“I can confirm the arrest of the suspect. Investigation into the allegation is ongoing,” the PPRO said
