JD Vance Couch Joke Is Alive And Well Thanks To The Internet

After JD Vance and wife Usha Vance shared that their fourth child was born and posted a photo on social media, their supporters rejoiced. Their critics, on the other hand? They came ready with the memes, snarky comments, and jokes for days. One joke involves referring to Usha as Vance’s mistress, but some users on Reddit were a bit confused by that reference.

There are plenty of things that the internet correlates to Vance these days, not the least of which is the meme people have used showing Vance with inflated cheeks, a creepy smile, and curly wig. But another joke at the vice president’s expense involves his wife, even if she didn’t really do anything to get caught in the crossfire of internet memes and jokes.

The internet has a joke about Usha Vance being JD Vance’s mistress.

Vance and Usha were married in 2014 after they attended Yale together. They later had three children. In 2026, they welcomed their fourth. No, Usha is not Vance’s actual mistress, and as far as the American people know, he has no other wife to speak of. But the reason some people joke about this is because of the couch joke involving Vance.

Users on social media are convinced that there is some truth to the wild unfounded rumor that Vance used a couch in an explicit way once upon a time. So to them, the couch is Vance’s real spouse. And Usha is his mistress. Yeah, no one said the joke made much sense.

In the Reddit post questioning why some people are joking about Vance welcoming his fourth child with his “mistress,” Usha, some people continued with the joke, while others flat out explained the root of it online.

“I can’t believe I’m having to defend JD Vance but the couch thing never happened,” someone commented on the post. “It’s a meme that’s ran outta control.

To that, someone joked, “But it feels like it could have happened. Pure truthiness.”

Another added, “Prove it. Prove to me he never f–ked a couch.”

As an explanation for why people still make the joke, a user wrote, “It took off because it’s complete bulls–t, but in a harmless way that is extremely funny that also makes intuitive sense because look at him.”

JD Vance’s memoir is rumored to include a certain passage about a couch.

In 2024, when Vance was still just a candidate for the role of vice president and he had not yet won the ticket with Donald Trump, a couch meme was born. Someone on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that a specific passage of his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, includes details of Vance having sex with couch cousins.

According to NPR, the X post said that Vance accomplished this act by using an “inside-out latex glove shoved between two couch cushions.” The original post was taken down, but the internet has a way of never forgetting what hurts people the most. And even if Vance doesn’t care that the lie is still out there, people still try to push his buttons with memes and references to it.

People also think Erika Kirk is somehow involved in the joke.

Another level of the joke with Usha as Vance’s would-be mistress involves Erika Kirk. Around the time Vance and Trump showed public support for her after her husband, Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed during a public speaking event at a Utah college, people speculated about Erika and Vance being attracted to each other.

There was her line about comparing Vance to her late husband, and of course the hug on-stage at a Turning Point USA event, wherein Erika’s hand was pushed through the back of Vance’s hair as they embraced. So the meme about Usha being Vance’s mistress and having his child has a double meaning for those who are still convinced that there is something between Erika and Vance.
