On their Facebook page, Spawn Point Collectables say they are closing both their stores, one in Barry and one in Pontypridd.
The team at Spawn Point say it was an extremely difficult decision and a ‘long and painful process’ in deciding to close the shops.
In Barry, Spawn Point can be found at 3 Tynewdd Road, right next to the beginning of Holton Road.
One of the town’s biggest shopping districts, Holton Road, like may high streets in the UK, has gone through upheaval in recent times – from the closure of major chains like Wilko’s to independent retailers like Awesome Wales coffee shop and zero waste store.
On the flip side, there’s been openings, including Jack’s Café.
Spawn Point specialises in collectibles like ‘Funko Pops’, Warhammer, Pokemon, Anime and more.
The team began their announcement by thanking their customers for their loyal support.
The message went: “Firstly, all of us here at Spawn Point Collectibles want to give a huge thank you and shout out to every single one of you that has stepped into the shops, dropped us a message, liked any of our posts or even have just mentioned us in a passing conversation. Truly, thank you!
“Unfortunately, the time has come for us to make the extremely difficult decision to close both our Barry and Pontypridd shops.
“This has been a very long and painful process for us and not something we have taken lightly in the slightest. However it is now the right time.
“With that said we will be posting the dates for our last days of trade for both shops as soon as possible, so please do keep an eye out on our socials.”
In a mysterious twist the team then added: “However, it’s not all doom and gloom as we have an absolutely huge piece of news to share with you very soon and cannot wait to be able to do so!
“Thank you again for the continued support and love.
“Team at Spawn Point Collectibles.”
