iCapital integrates alternatives DLT platform with fund admin UMBFS – Ledger Insights


iCapital, the alternative investment fintech, is integrating its distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform with UMB Fund Services (UMBFS), one of the largest US fund administrators. UMBFS is a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corporation.

The DLT platform standardizes data and automates workflows across the alternatives ecosystem, creating a shared record of transactions that reduces the need for reconciliations between participants. Rather than tokenization, the focus is on streamlining the operational processes that underpin the fund lifecycle. iCapital has previously onboarded two high profile wealth managers to the network: UBS Wealth Management and Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

“As a transfer agent serving approximately half of U.S. assets for unlisted registered closed-end funds, we have a clear view of where operational friction lives—and subscription processing is at the top of the list,” said UMBFS Director of Transfer Agency Operations Brittany Haiser. “iCapital’s platform addresses that layer directly, enabling scale for both financial advisors and investment managers.”
