Family Concert

PORTSMOUTH — Free family concert Wednesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.), at the Community Campus, 100 Campus Drive, Portsmouth. Little Wish Bone (Folk music), bubble station, playground open, bring a picnic dinner, blanket or lawn chair. Rain or shine.

Learn Ukulele

DOVER — Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m., learn ukulele with the Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group at the Dover Public Library. This lesson provides a quick overview of the ukulele and instruction on playing a few simple songs. Please feel free to bring your own ukulele to learn. There will also be 40 ukuleles available to lend.

Lasagna dinner

UNION — Take a tasting trip to Italy with the Church Fellowship of the Union Congregational Church. On Thursday, Aug. 8, a fantastic spread of home-made lasagna, tossed salad, bread, assorted home baked pies, coffee and/or lemonade will be available from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Hotchkiss Commons, 71 Main St., Union.  Tickets are sold at the door only, starting at 4:30 p.m.  The cost is $12 for adults and children 5 and under are free. Collectibles Appraisal Roadshow

DOVER — Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Do you have a collection of stamps, coins, sports cards, trading cards, or comic books? Do you want to know how much they’re worth? The Parish Helpers’ Village Fair

WAKEFIELD — On Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. come to the Parish Helper’s Village Fair & Cookie Walk at First Congregational Church of Wakefield UCC, 2718 Wakefield Road, Wakefield, where you can choose your own selection from a huge variety of homemade cookies.  Find a treat at the Pie and Bread Sale, browse tables of crafts, vendors, jewelry, and enjoy a relaxing lunch.

Woods, Water, and Wildlife Festival 

MILTON MILLS — On Saturday, Aug. 10, Moose Mountains Regional Greenways will host its flagship annual event, the Woods, Water, and Wildlife Festival, at scenic Branch Hill Farm in Milton Mills. Entertainment for all ages. Youth will enjoy fishing in the Branch Hill Farm pond, educational nature-based play and crafting, and watching a thrilling oxen-pull logging demonstration. Adults will be interested in the local organizations and businesses tabling at the Festival, including a new exhibit from Thrive Outdoors on outdoor survival skills and information from wildlife rehabilitation organization the Center for Wildlife.  The Squam Lakes Science Center will once-again host two presentations featuring their special animal guests live and up-close. Attendees will also enjoy live music throughout the day and can purchase refreshments from a selection of locally-owned food trucks. Tickets for the festival are only $5 per person or $10 per family for non-members, and are free for MOOSE-ie Members. Third Annual ‘Cornhole for a Cure’ Tournament

DOVER — The Dover, Rollinsford, South Berwick Lions Club is hosting its third annual Corn Hole Tournament on Aug. 10, at The Barn at Dunn Farm in Berwick, Maine.  Funds raised will benefit local charity “Annie’s Angels” (www.anniesangels.org).  Annie’s Angels helps families struggling with life threatening illness and disabilities in and around the seacoast area. 5th Annual Sabine Strong 3.3 Mile Run/Walk

NEWINGTON — On Sunday, Aug. 11, at 9 a.m., the 5th Annual Sabine Strong run/walk will be held. Newington Fire Chief Darin Sabine was born on Aug. 4, 1984, in Newington, N.H., and his last alarm was on Sept. 7, 2019 after a two-year battle with colon cancer. Show and Tell at the Wakefield-Brookfield Historical Society Annual Meeting

SANBORNVILLE — Tuesday, Aug.13 is a very important date for those interested in the on-going work of the Wakefield-Brookfield Historical Society, especially the plans to restore and renovate the buildings owned by the Society.  The Annual Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Gafney Library Community Room, 14 High St., n Sanbornville.  We’ll also be bringing back an old favorite activity of the Society – Show and Tell.  Come and see some items that the members and friends of the Society have in their personal collections.  Many will have historic connections to our communities and will give insight into how life was in earlier days.  All guests are encouraged to bring something to share.  In addition, parts of the Society’s collection will be presented. Celtic Music in the Wentworth House Garden

ROLLINSFORD — Rollinsford’s historic Colonel Paul Wentworth House will host the last of its summer Music in the Garden series on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. when the O’Carolan Celtic Trio presents an evening of Celtic music. This program is free and open to the public, and no pre-registration is required. The public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
