Sanrio mascots such as Hello Kitty have been used in a variety of mediums and for just as many forms of merchandise. Now, the characters will be part of another series of collectible cards that come with a tasty treat.
Via Game Watch, the candy toy “Sanrio Characters Wafer 7” series has now been released, and as the name suggests, it’s the seventh iteration of these items, this time featuring the cute Sanrio characters on Tarot-esque cards representing them in both dark and angelic imagery. Add in a delicious delectable, and it’s easily the sweetest thing out right now involving Hello Kitty and friends.

The Latest Hello Kitty and Friends Card Series Combines Sweets With Sanrio
Released through Bandai Candy, the Sanrio Characters Wafer 7 is the next generation in a line of branded cards that come complete with a sweet treat. The latter is a creamy, chocolately wafer that comes with each card pack. Besides this sugary bite, the series also includes two different types of Sanrio-themed cards. Featuring various characters in the brand like Hello Kitty, Keroppi and Kuromi, the cards depict them as either devils or angels in adorable Tarot-like artwork. The second aspect of the series involves the “Fluffy Plush Hug” cards, which depict the various Sanrio characters hugging their favorite stuffed animals.
The Fluffy Plush Hug cards are portrayed in a light pastel color scheme, while the angel/devil cards have bolder colors. Made out of metallic placards, the Sanrio Characters Wafer 7 line also features mysterious rare cards that are constructed from holographic foil. Altogether, there are 29 cards in the series, with two of these being esoteric “secret” cards. The series is now available in Japanese convenience stores in candy and snack aisles at a cost of 143 yen (just under US$1). With these prices, fans can try their luck and hopefully collect the entire set for less than $50. Of course, even if they end up purchasing repeats, they can still enjoy a nice wafer that’s just as sweet as the Sanrio characters.
