According to SeafoodSource, the average price of whole, fresh salmon from Norway has declined again in Week 24, with prices generally lower this year compared to last year.
The Sitagri Salmon Index, which provides a weekly benchmark based on FCA Oslo sale prices from major Norwegian producers for fresh, whole HOG salmon, also recorded price decreases in Week 24. The average for all fish sizes reached NOK 66.26 (USD 6.97, EUR 6.02) per kilogram. This represents a week-over-week drop of NOK 2.11 (USD 0.22, EUR 0.19), or 3.1 percent, and a decline of NOK 27.61 (USD 2.90, EUR 2.51), or 29.4 percent, over the past three months.
This year, prices have reached that rate in June, indicating that an even lower seasonal trough may occur next month. Even lower prices for Norwegian salmon are anticipated by mid-summer as volumes typically increase during this period.
Seasonal price dips have occurred much earlier in the season than they did in 2025. Norwegian Seafood Council CEO Christian Chramer attributed the general 2026 seafood value declines to a combination of factors, including ongoing trade barriers, global conflict, and a stronger krone.
Export volumes for Week 24, as reported by Sitagri, increased by 184 metric tons, a 1 percent week-over-week rise, and were up 4,088 metric tons from Week 24 of 2025, marking a 22 percent increase.
The most recent forward prices, issued by Fish Pool, dropped significantly this week, suggesting that traders expect weaker prices to continue for the foreseeable future. The entire curve shifted downward, with the largest changes observed between August and November of 2026. Forward prices for July fell by EUR 150 (USD 174, NOK 1,650) per metric ton this week, and prices for August through November all dropped by EUR 200 (USD 231, NOK 2,200) per metric ton, after which the price difference narrowed again.
