LG Uplus’ personalised AI technology has been recognised as competitive at an international academic conference in the information retrieval field.

LG Uplus said on July 23 that a paper on its self-developed AI technology, Personal Intelligence, was accepted at the international information retrieval academic conference SIGIR 2026.

SIGIR is an international academic conference where research results and technologies in information retrieval are shared. This year’s event runs through July 24 in Melbourne, Australia. LG Uplus will present Personal Intelligence research results at the venue on July 23.

Personal Intelligence is an AI technology that analyses customers’ situations and interests by combining different customer data such as call summaries, app and web usage records and location-based patterns. Because it comprehensively analyses diverse data and actual usage patterns, customers can receive recommendations for tailored services without repeatedly entering their interests and situations.

LG Uplus said it designed the technology to operate stably even in environments where external movement of data is restricted and in telecom environments where large-scale traffic occurs. It said it secures accuracy while processing more than hundreds of thousands of data items a day and has also applied a recovery system to prepare for errors.

LG Uplus plans to further advance Personal Intelligence into an “agentic context engineering” technology. It plans for AI to continuously develop its understanding of customers by linking information obtained during conversations with customers or during service use with existing data.

It is also reviewing ways to expand Personal Intelligence to customer touchpoints such as IPTV recommendations and customer consultations, and to use it in areas of AI agents for companies and employees that support staff work.

Young-hwan Jeon (전영환), head of LG Uplus’ Personal Agent Technology Team, said, “The selection of this paper is the result of recognition of the competitiveness of the personalised AI technology that LG Uplus has developed.” He added, “We will advance AI technology that better understands customers to provide differentiated personalised services.”
