AngelList Acquires Ark To Create Integrated Fund Administration, Banking, And AI Platform For Private Markets

AngelList, a San Francisco-based software platform supporting the private markets with infrastructure, cap table management, and payments capabilities, has acquired Ark PES, a fund management software platform serving more than 500 general partners and fund administrators across venture capital and private equity, supporting more than $185 billion in assets. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ark has spent nearly a decade building purpose-built back-office and investor relations software for private fund managers and administrators, covering fund accounting, LP reporting, and fundraising workflows across venture capital, private equity, fund-of-funds, and real estate. AngelList, which supports over $170 billion in assets, more than 25,000 funds and syndicates, and 72,000 active investors on its platform, brings banking and payment infrastructure, cap table software, and AI development capabilities to the combination.

The strategic rationale centers on closing the gap between fund administration software and the financial plumbing that supports it. Currently, clearing capital calls, distributions, and subscriptions through traditional banking rails can take days. AngelList’s integrated banking network — which already serves 150,000-plus accredited investors — processes those same transactions in minutes. By combining Ark’s fund administration software with that payment infrastructure, the combined platform can offer fund administrators and GPs a more complete operational stack than either company could provide independently.

Post-acquisition, AngelList plans to extend its AI capabilities across Ark’s fund accounting, investor reporting, and fundraising workflows, reducing manual work and improving data access for fund administrators and their clients. The combined platform will support the full fund lifecycle, from cap table and portfolio monitoring through investor relations, CRM, and e-subscription documents.

KEY QUOTES:

“Bringing these companies together will create significant benefits to customers, enhancing our AI capabilities and driving innovation and product development. By combining Ark’s software with AngelList’s infrastructure, cap table software and payments capabilities, we are creating a comprehensive suite of solutions for the private markets.”

Avlok Kohli, Chief Executive Officer, AngelList

“Joining AngelList allows us to accelerate that mission. Our customers will gain access to a broader platform, deeper product investment and integrated banking and payments capabilities that can meaningfully improve how funds are administered and serviced. Together, Ark and AngelList will offer a more complete set of features that weren’t possible within a single platform.”

Bill Ward, Chief Executive Officer, Ark
