VC firm nabs former Natixis IM distribution head

January Capital has appointed a regional head of distribution, mining talent from Natixis Investment Managers.

Based in Singapore, January Capital is a venture capital specialist operating across the Asia Pacific region and is backed by Australian growth investor Scarcity Partners.

Jason Guthrie has joined the firm as head of distribution for Australia and New Zealand after leaving Natixis IM in May where he was head of wholesale distribution for more than seven years.

He brings more than two decades of experience from across the financial services sector, previously serving as state manager for AMP Capital, account manager for Colonial First State and in private wealth management at Commonwealth Bank.

In his new role, Guthrie will be responsible for overall capital raising and management of client relationships.

Guthrie said on LinkedIn: “After spending the past two weeks with the team in Singapore and Sydney, I’ve been inspired by the depth of experience across the firm. With strong Australian heritage, Jan Cap partners with ambitious founders across the Asia-Pacific region, providing long-term capital, strategic support and access to a global network throughout their growth journey.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with our clients, the investment team and our valued partner Scarcity Partners, to help strengthen relationships and provide access to some of the most compelling opportunities in growth capital.”

Earlier this week, Natixis IM announced Guthrie’s replacement at the firm – Rommel Hacopian, who joined from Yarra Capital Management where he was head of intermediary for six years.
