This Is Wrexham C.I.C. say they are excited to announce the imminent launch of the “This Is Wrexham – Shared Prosperity Key Fund,” a significant grant opportunity designed to support the growth and enhancement of tourism and hospitality businesses across Wrexham County Borough.

As reported on Thursday a range of grants have been made locally via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and This Is Wrexham is the first to step forward and explain what they will be doing with the cash.

The community interest company aims to drive footfall, increase visitor spend, and further establish Wrexham as a premier visitor destination. They were awarded two pots, with one being a ‘key fund’ to allow access to a range of smaller sub-grants.

Their Key Fund will open for applications from 9am on June 9th, 2025, and will close at 5pm on June 22nd, 2025. Businesses are strongly encouraged to prepare now to ensure they are ready to apply as soon as the fund opens.

“Wrexham’s tourism and hospitality sector has seen incredible growth and success recently, and the Shared Prosperity Key Fund is a testament to our commitment to sustaining and accelerating that momentum,” said Sam Regan, Owner of The Lemon Tree & Co Director of This is Wrexham CI.C.

“This grant offers a fantastic opportunity for our local businesses to innovate, expand, and elevate the visitor experience, directly contributing to a more vibrant and sustainable local economy.”

The fund will provide grants of between £2,000 and £15,000, covering up to 75% of eligible project costs. The total value of the fund is £200,000. It is specifically targeted at qualifying “This Is Wrexham” member businesses that are currently operating within Wrexham County Borough.

Key objectives for projects seeking funding include:

  • Driving footfall and increasing visitor numbers.
  • Extending dwell time for visitors within Wrexham.
  • Increasing overall visitor spend in the local economy.
  • Encouraging further investment in Wrexham County.

They say eligible projects will primarily focus on marketing and events activities that align with This Is Wrexham’s mission to enhance the visitor experience. This includes initiatives such as brand development, digital marketing campaigns, production of promotional materials, event planning, and logistical support for local events.

All funded projects must achieve their outputs by March 15th, 2026.

Businesses interested in applying are urged to begin their preparations immediately. This includes ensuring they are a qualifying “This Is Wrexham” member, reviewing the full eligibility criteria, and identifying potential marketing or event projects that meet the fund’s objectives. Applicants will need to demonstrate the means to fully finance project costs initially, as the grant operates on a reimbursement basis, however some funds can be made available to assist with initial cash flow.

Further information regarding detailed eligibility criteria, application guidelines, and how to prepare can be found on the This Is Wrexham website at www.thisiswrexham.co.uk/spf-key-fund.
