Quant Mutual Fund doubles cash holding in July to Rs 12,000 crore


Quant Mutual Fund doubled its cash holding in July to 14.03% from 7.17% in June 2024. The fund house was sitting with around Rs 12,269 crore cash pile in July against Rs 5,861 crore cash in June. The total equity AUM of the fund house was Rs 75,186 crore as on July 2024.

The fund house has around 21 equity mutual fund schemes. Of these 21 schemes, three schemes had more than Rs 1,000 crore cash in their portfolio. Quant Small Cap Fund had the highest cash allocation of Rs 3,223.24 crore in its portfolio in July against Rs 420 crore cash allocation in June. The total equity AUM of the small cap fund was around Rs 21,306.54 crore.

Quant Mid Cap Fund, a mid cap fund, was sitting with Rs 2,051.85 crore in its portfolio as on July 2024 against Rs 551.35 crore in June. The fund had an equity AUM of Rs 7,231.07 crore. Quant Flexi Cap Fund had Rs 1,273.87 crore cash in its portfolio with an equity AUM of Rs 6,161.87 crore.

Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund had around Rs 559.46 crore in its portfolio as on July 2024 with the second highest equity AUM of Rs 10,505.96 crore. In June, the fund had around Rs 364.36 crore cash in its portfolio.

Quant Large Cap Fund had around Rs 442.83 crore cash in its portfolio as on July 2024. Quant Business Cycle Fund had Rs 246.60 crore cash in the portfolio as on July 2024.Around four Quant schemes had less than Rs 100 crore cash in their respective portfolios in July 2024. Quant Commodities Fund had Rs 64.36 crore cash in its portfolio and had an equity AUM of Rs 382.22 crore. Quant Healthcare Fund and Quant ESG Equity Fund had around Rs 38.60 crore and Rs 20.33 crore cash in their respective portfolios. Quant Consumption Fund had the lowest cash allocation of Rs 19.21 crore as on July 2024.

Quant ESG Equity Fund had the lowest equity AUM of Rs 294.38 crore as on July 2024.

The fund house had over Rs 5,861 crore in its portfolio in June. This was around 7.17% of the total AUM. The total equity AUM of the fund house was Rs 75,846 crore.

Fund managers are allowed to keep a part of their portfolio in cash to meet events like redemptions or make investments when they see a possible opportunity in the market.
