USD Football eyes consistency through spring workouts

VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — USD played its football spring scrimmage Saturday morning.

The Coyotes are coming off their two best consecutive seasons in the program’s FCS history. The Coyotes reached the national semifinals for the first time in December when they lost to top-seed Montana State.

Now, as they gearing up for next season, under first-year head coach Travis Johansen, they’re looking to gain more consistency.

“This group has the capacity to go do what we want to do,” Johansen said. “The reality is we got to do it more consistently right now. We’ve got to put the pieces together and all be on the field at the same time.”

The Yotes open the 2025 season on the road at Iowa State on Aug. 30.
