Of the two European finals reached in modern times, the 2008 UEFA Cup is probably the one that rankles the least.
It was a memorable run in which a team featuring current boss Barry Ferguson punched above their weight and gave the fans a load of memories, before being beaten by a better Zenit St Petersburg team on the night.
It is the 2022 Europa League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt that hurts more, taking the lead during the game, having opportunities to win it and then losing on penalties.
Both runs are looked back upon with fondness but that first one possibly more so because the more recent one seems like more of an opportunity missed.
For one Bluenose, his memories of it are quite unique.

Stephen Dobbie attended Rangers vs Zenit before days before Scottish Cup clash
Stephen Dobbie is a Rangers fan and the Glasgow-born striker started his career with the club before leaving for Hibs and eventually making a name for himself at Queen of the South and in England.
Gers were fighting on several fronts towards the end of the 2007/08 season, fighting for the league title as well as the UEFA Cup and Scottish Cup, where they were due to play Dobbie’s Doonhamers.
After plenty of fall-out regarding Rangers’ schedule and whether the SFA should help them, they would play against Zenit on May 14 before taking on QOTS ten days later.
With the Championship side having a massive break between their own league season finishing and the cup final, they were whisked off to Marbella where they watched Gers beat Fiorentina.
And a decision was taken for Dobbie and some team-mates to head for Manchester to watch Rangers in a final days before playing against them in another one.
He recalled to the Scottish Sun: “They played Fiorentina in the semi-final. The club had taken us to Marbella because there was a big gap (from Championship season ending) to the final.
“So they took us to Marbella for a ‘training camp’. We were in this bar watching it knowing we’re playing Rangers in the final.
“And they win, so we’re like ‘tickets, we’re getting tickets’. And obviously being Manchester it was a lot easier.
“So seven or eight of us went down, obviously all the trouble when we walked back to our cars. And then obviously we were playing them a couple of days later, so it was a bit surreal.”
Dobbie’s Rangers-themed boots
Queen of the South had made it to the final with a dramatic semi-final win over Aberdeen. But they had expected to face Celtic that day but for a surprise loss in a quarter-final replay.
With that in mind, he decided to get a special pair of blue, red and white boots for the occasion.
He added: “Being a big Rangers fan. I think Celtic drew away to Aberdeen so all the boys thought ‘it’s going to be Celtic, the replay’s at Parkhead. So stupidly, I got a pair of boots made with blue, red and white for the semi-final.
“Obviously, Aberdeen go and beat them and I’ve just wasted my money!
“When Aberdeen won, we were still like ‘this is going to be tough’. But Chissy (Gordon Chisholm), the manager, said ‘listen, give it your best shot. As long as you stick together, you can create something. And we did.”
Asked if he wore the boots in the final against Rangers, he added: “I can’t remember, I probably did wear them.”
