Japanese OTA ‘jalan.net’ increased domestic accommodation bookings in FY2024 by 11% to record-high 1.4 trillion yen


Recruit announced that its operating OTA ‘jalan.net’ focuses on sending more tourists to local tourists destinations and reducing operation burdens on tourism operators at an event for partners ‘Jalan Forum 2025.’ Masaya Ono, Recruit Travel Division Vice President, said that to expand consumption in local regions is a Jalan’s important mission. 

The total amount of domestic accommodation bookings in FY2024 ending March 31 2025 was up 11% year on year to record-high 1.4 trillion yen.

jalan.net continues encouraging users to book travels through demand-boosting to meet each region’s needs, creation of tourism contents, distribution of coupons and sales campaigns. 

Regarding the coupon strategy, the OTA has enabled users to use coupons accommodations and jalan.net provide at the same time since June 2024 and also allows accommodations to manage coupons and campaign plans more effectively to reduce daily operation burdens. 

Bookings by ‘Gold Members’ are about 9 times more than those by lower-status members, and booking values of ‘Gold Members’ are about 1.7 times more than those of lower status members, according to Recruit. Therefore, Recruit has just begun considering introducing benefits exclusively for Gold Members, such as early check-in or tickets for in-house facilities, to raise satisfaction of high-status members. 

Transactions of inbound travels to Japan through jalan.net expanded by about six times in 2024 compared to 2019. For further growth, jalan.net is looking for partners with international OTAs in U.S. and Europe in addition to those in Asia.
