Digital accounts accessing Women’s Euro 2025 content through BBC Sport surged by 86% at its peak compared to the same stage of the 2022 tournament. The peak of 2.7million digital accounts accessing Women’s Euro 2025 content happened when England played the Netherlands in a must-win game to remain in the competition.
In total, content from the group stages was accessed by a record 5.4 million digital accounts across the BBC Sport website and app, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds – an increase of 28% following the group stages in the 2022 Women’s Euro competition.
On BBC Sounds, there has been an increase of 171% in accounts accessing Women’s Euro audio content in comparison to the end of the group stages in 2022, and a 13% increase on iPlayer, despite shared TV rights.
The BBC Sport website and app received more unique users on a single day in the 2025 group stages (2.9 million) than the day of England’s semi-final in 2022 (2.7 million). On social media, there has been a staggering 57 million video views, with content celebrating the biggest sporting moments on the pitch as well as giving fans a glimpse of life in Switzerland. Of these, 43% was from content on TikTok.
With the group stages completed, there are just eight teams remaining in Women’s Euro 2025, including defending champions England, World Cup winners Spain and hosts Switzerland.
Fans can watch three quarter-finals exclusively on the BBC, including England’s match against Sweden on Thursday 17 July. Coverage is live on BBC One & iPlayer from 7pm, with Gabby Logan presenting from Zurich.
Coverage of Norway v Italy starts at 7:30pm on BBC One & iPlayer on Wednesday 16 July, while Spain v Switzerland is available to watch at the same time on BBC One & iPlayer on Friday 18 July.
Ahead of the quarter-finals Ellen White, BBC pundit and top Lionesses goal scorer, said: “I’m really excited to watch and witness the England v Sweden match pitchside in Zurich on Thursday. Two powerhouses of international football. It will be a tough game for England but we have seen them really dominate these last two games against Netherlands and Wales. Sweden have been exciting to watch especially on the counterattack and down their right-hand side with the likes of Rytting Kaneryd and Blackstenius as well as Angeldahl and Asllani making runs from midfield. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top, hopefully England.”
Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, said: “The Women’s Euros are off to a phenomenal start and these digital figures show just how invested fans are already. Millions more are using our platforms in comparison to the same point in 2022, with growth across the board. As we approach the knockouts and England’s quarter-final we know interest will increase. The BBC is the only place fans will be able to watch England when they face Sweden on Thursday 17 July.”
The BBC will show one semi-final as well as the hotly anticipated final on Sunday 27 July.
Audio commentary of every knockout match is available live on BBC Radio 5 Live / 5 Sports Extra and Sounds.
