BNY names new Americas head of equities trading and execution

Daniel Ciment has joined BNY as the new Americas head of equities trading and execution, effective 12 May 2025.

The new role will see Ciment working out of New York, where he will help to drive forward BNY’s next phase of growth for its equities franchise and expand its execution capabilities.

He will report to Rob Lynch, head of fixed income and equities at BNY.

“We are delighted to welcome Daniel to BNY. His unique blend of expertise will be a game-changer for our electronic equities trading platform as we continue to build out our global franchise,” said Jason Vitale, head of global markets trading at BNY.

“His appointment is another significant milestone in our journey to further bolster our equities offering. We are confident that his leadership and innovative approach will drive meaningful growth and enhance our client experience.”

Ciment brings extensive industry experience, particularly in electronic equities trading, to his new position, and joins from Elwood Technologies, where he served as president and chief operating officer for two years to December 2023.

His previous roles also include other leadership positions such as chief operating officer at IEX Exchange, as well as global head of equities electronic trading at JP Morgan.

Prior to this, he also held managing director and senior vice president positions at Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers and ITG.
