The iShares 5-10 Year Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF focuses on intermediate-term corporate debt, while the iShares 3-7 Year Treasury Bond ETF targets a shorter maturity range exclusively in U.S. government securities.

Cost and Performance Metrics

The corporate bond fund carries a lower expense ratio compared to the Treasury fund. It also provides a higher dividend yield. Over a recent one-year period, the corporate bond ETF showed a higher total return than the Treasury fund. The Treasury ETF has a larger asset base.

Risk and Portfolio Composition

Examining a five-year period, the corporate bond ETF experienced a deeper maximum drawdown than the Treasury fund. The growth of an initial investment over those five years was higher for the corporate bond ETF. The Treasury fund holds a concentrated portfolio of U.S. Treasury bonds with maturities in a specific range, offering credit safety. The corporate bond fund holds a much larger number of investment-grade corporate bonds, providing broad exposure across issuers with no single bond holding a dominant share. The largest issuer in the corporate fund constitutes a small percentage of the overall portfolio.
