Finance Ministry Reopens Six-Year Government Bond Issue


The Finance Ministry has reopened a six-year government securities issue that was put into circulation at an auction held on May 13, the Finance Ministry said. The BGN-denominated issue matures on May 15, 2030 and carries an annual interest coupon of 3.25%.

The volume of the issue in circulation was increased by BGN 200 million at an auction held on 26 August 2024, thus reaching BGN 800 million in nominal value. The weighted average annual yield of the reopening auction was 3.80%.

The total amount of placed bids amounted to BGN 467.9 million, which corresponds to a coverage ratio of 2.34. The reported spread over similar German government bonds was 169 basis points. Pension funds acquired the largest amount of government securities at the auction – 37%, followed by insurance companies – 30%, banks – 25.4, guarantee funds – 5%, investment firms – 2.5 and other investors – 0.1%.
