INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Kokomo Toys and Collectibles, a renowned destination for toy collectors, is located on “Geek Street” in Kokomo, Indiana, offering a vast array of vintage toys, including Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures.
The family-owned business, which moved to its current downtown location about 10 to 12 years ago, began as a personal collection of toys by the owners. Over the years, it has grown into a top destination for collectors seeking nostalgic items from their childhood.
“When a person comes in the shop and asks me that, I always steer them to collect what you like,” Phil Lawrence, store manager, said.
Kokomo Toys and Collectibles is particularly known for its rare items, such as an original 1977 Godzilla Shogun figure and carded Star Wars figures, including the original Luke Skywalker.
The store also boasts a complete USS Flagg G.I. Joe aircraft carrier, which is eight feet long. The popularity of toy collecting has seen a resurgence, with many collectors drawn to the nostalgia of their childhoods. The store owner noted that vintage Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures are among the most sought-after items, along with current collectibles like Funko Pop vinyls.
