“A Minecraft Movie” is scheduled to be released this week.
In anticipation of the movie’s release, McDonald’s is offering two special meals for fans of Block World. And you don’t have to be a kid to get your hands on one of the meals, that come with collectibles or figurines.
Two themed meals based on the popular video game have been available at McDonald’s since April 1, one for adults and the other a Happy Meal for kids.

What is Minecraft?
Minecraft is a video game.
Players can “build anything you can imagine, uncover eerie mysteries, and survive the night in the ultimate sandbox game,” according to Minecraft’s website.
“In Minecraft, every playthrough is different, and unforgettable adventures await behind every corner. Explore and craft your way through an infinite world that’s yours to shape, one block at a time.”
When will ‘A Minecraft Movie’ be released?
Warner Bros. announced “A Minecraft Movie” will be in theaters Friday, April 4.
Directed by Jared Hess and starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, the movie “is the first-ever big screen, live-action adaptation of Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time,” Warner Bros. said on its YouTube channel.
The film also stars Emma Myers, Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge.
The trailer describes the movie this way:
“Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits — Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) — find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.

What are the McDonald’s Minecraft Movie meals?
McDonald’s has two meals based off the movie.
Starting April 1 and for a limited time, McDonald’s is offering the Minecraft Movie Meal and the Minecraft Movie Happy Meal.
The McDonald’s Minecraft Movie Meal comes with either a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, along with a drink and medium fries. For a limited time, you’ll also get one of six custom-designed collectibles. Select the McNuggets and “spice things up with Nether Flame Sauce, a limited-edition hot sauce inspired by The Nether, with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness. Fans who want an extra kick can also add the sauce to their favorite McDonald’s order.”
A Minecraft Movie Happy Meal comes with either a hamburger or Chicken McNuggets, fries, apple slices, a drink and one of 12 film-inspired figurines or Block World toys, while supplies last. It’s available until May 6.
The Happy Meals also come with a scannable code to unlock an exclusive digital game where players can complete their very own quest in the “A Minecraft Movie” world on happymeal.com.
‘A Minecraft Movie’ collectibles, digital perks
The six collectibles were “inspired by some of McDonald’s most beloved characters and menu items, and popular‘A Minecraft Movie’ treasures. Each collectible comes with a matching card and a code fans can redeem to unlock the corresponding, exclusive skin in the Minecraft Marketplace.”

Big Mac Crystal: Mined from the sea of special sauce, this precious block derives its radiant shine from melty cheese and a toasty sesame-seed bun.

Zombie Hamburglar: Imagine a figurine combining the features of McDonald’s famed Hamburglar with a Minecraft zombie.
“Every ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Meal purchased on the McDonald’s app also gives customers an in-game bonus at no extra cost. A one-time redeemable code will be sent to customers to unlock the McDonald’s Add-On pack in Minecraft, which includes additional components to your gameplay such as McDonaldland characters, builds and tools,” McDonald’s said.
How many McDonald’s are there in Florida?
According to ScrapeHero, a data company, there were 13,622 McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. as of March 11.
