Hidden collectibles have been a core part of Naughty Dog’s games for almost three decades now. As should be expected of mascot platformers, Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot series was packed to the brim with all manner of hidden Crystals and Gems. Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter series followed suit, containing thousands of Precursor Orbs scattered across its world. Even Uncharted has its fair share of collectibles, often being pieces of treasure that have survived the downfall of an ancient civilization. It seems fair to assume, then, that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will have its own set of collectibles.
Dipping its toes into the realm of Sci-Fi allows Naughty Dog to get really creative with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet‘s collectibles. But while there are plenty of avenues Naughty Dog could explore, the most rewarding option might be to take The Last of Us‘ collectibles and put an all-new spin on them.

The Last of Us’ Collectibles Teased a Sci-Fi Universe
The Last of Us has a surprising number of collectibles for a mostly linear action-adventure series. Along with a bevy of Firefly Pendants, The Last of Us tasks completionists with locating an array of artifacts, a handful of weapon training manuals, and a novella’s worth of written journal entries and notes.
But by far the most memorable collectible type in The Last of Us is the series’ assortment of ‘Savage Starlight’ memorabilia. In the first Last of Us, players can find a total of 14 comic books hidden throughout the post-apocalyptic version of North America. These comics all come from the same Savage Starlight series, a Sci-Fi adventure that centers on protagonist Dr. Daniela Star and her journey through the galaxy in the year 2186.
The Last of Us Part 2 presents a new kind of Savage Starlight collectible, with players being able to find a total of 48 trading cards based on the comic series’ characters. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered even added a Savage Starlight-inspired skin for Ellie to wear during its roguelike ‘No Return’ mode. While The Last of Us‘ Savage Starlight collectibles obviously weren’t a direct allusion to Naughty Dog’s upcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, they retroactively feel like a fun nod to the studio’s desire to explore the realm of Sci-Fi.
Savage Starlight is also referenced in Uncharted 4, both as a poster appearing in the game’s closing moments, and as a set of cosmetics for the game’s multiplayer mode.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s Collectibles Could Reference The Post-Apocalypse
If Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has its own set of collectibles, it might be fun to see a few that flip The Last of Us‘ Savage Starlight comics and cards on their heads, giving players a range of post-apocalypse-themed items to find. For instance, Intergalactic‘s collectibles could parody some of The Last of Us‘ most iconic characters and moments in the form of collectible trinkets and toys. As seen in Intergalactic‘s reveal trailer, Naughty Dog is leaning heavily into a retrofuturistic aesthetic, so tangible collectibles like toys and trinkets wouldn’t feel too out of place even given its Sci-Fi setting.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Propher follows Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.
