Evangelion Gets New Collectible Magnet Release by Good Smile Company USA

The classic Neon Genesis Evangelion anime is known for its dark psychological leanings, with many viewers lauding it for how the series deconstructed mecha anime. Nonetheless, the franchise’s newest forms of merchandise include adorable magnet versions of its characters.

The “Huggy Good Smile” series by Good Smile Company is proud to present new Evangelion figures that double as magnets. Based on the franchise’s latest movies, these toys come in a variety of options, including two different versions of Asuka and Rei. With Good Smile now accepting reservations, fans can lay claim to these collectibles that are sure to almost make them forget how dark the anime is.

New Evangelion Magnet Figures Are Too Adorable for Words

The new Evangelion collectibles from Good Smile Company are far from the gritty, battle-weary mecha pilots that many fans are familiar with from the series. Instead, the line includes hug-ready figures based on Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Kaworu and Mari from the Rebuild of Evangelion reboot movies. There are also two additional figures that depict Asuka with an eyepatch and a long-haired Rei. The figures can be placed sitting on their laurels on a desk or shelf, making them an adorable way to showcase the series’ characters. The arms can be moved up and down for certain poses, while the magnets on the back of their heads mean that they can just as easily be displayed on a refrigerator or freezer.

The Huggy Good Smile line is made up of other figures that are portrayed in a super deformed manner. Examples include the Vocaloid character Miku Hatsune, as well as 2B from the NieR: Automata video game and anime series. The line can now be pre-ordered on Good Smile’s U.S. website for $10.99. The reservation period will run from now until late September, although the figures themselves won’t ship out until Q3 2025. While they might not quite capture the psychological horror inherent in the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, these magnets could light up the dark hearts of even the most violent Angels from the franchise.
