Kathmandu. Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina and World Bank Regional Director for South Asia David Sislen held a meeting on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both parties reached an agreement to accelerate the implementation of the ‘Nepal Digital Transformation Project’.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in Singha Durbar, focused on the current state of mutual cooperation and future collaboration.
During the discussion, Director Sislen congratulated Minister Timilsina and expressed interest in the government’s priorities regarding the Digital Transformation Project, which is being implemented with World Bank support.
He expressed confidence that the project would assist in implementing the government’s governance reform agenda.
Furthermore, Sislen stated that the World Bank is committed to supporting the Government of Nepal in areas such as expanding IT access, data management, digital transformation, media literacy, and governance reform to promote Nepal’s information technology sector.
In response, Minister Timilsina thanked the World Bank for its support and stated that the implementation of the Nepal Digital Transformation Project would be expedited. He informed that since the formation of the new government, result-oriented work has begun in infrastructure development and public service delivery. He also expressed the government’s commitment to working differently than in the past and focusing on resolving issues seen in various projects.
Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other officials from the Ministry of Communication were also present at the meeting.
