The Weekly Meme Roundup: Cheesy Michael, Kane Parsons, Du Bist Gut Genug And More

Don’t be like Cheesy Michael and lock yourself in your room, come out and read the Weekly Meme Roundup, where we recap five of the biggest memes of the past week that you need to check out.

This week on social media, a bizarro edit of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit introduced the world to “YBG Wallace,” director Kane Parsons reminded everyone that he’s 20 years old, LarpTubers replaced all your favorite YouTube creators and more.

Here are the five big memes of the week that you need to catch up on.

Ma Got Pranked / YBG Wallace

Wallace from Wallace and Gromit got a haircut and a new personality recently, and he’s been blowing up on Instagram Reels with the YBG Wallace memes.

YBG Wallace, which stands for your choice of “Young, Black and Gifted” Wallace or “Young, British and Gifted” Wallace, is an AI-generated depiction of Wallace wearing a face mask, rocking a fade and giving an OK symbol.

This depiction of Wallace, which was made by TikToker @ybg.wallace in early May 2026, is meant to make him look something like a stereotypical, modern British youth.

The meme blew up in the past week after an image of it being sent to someone’s mother as a prank went viral.

This meme, known as “Ma Got Pranked,” inspired a wave of YBG Wallace edits on sites including Reels, TikTok and X. Most of the edits take the meme in an absurd, nonsensical turn for no real reason, while others show Wallace doing things like getting a haircut or posing in a really cool way and flexing his money.

LarpTubers

YouTubers have been reliving the glory days of the platform this week by LARPing as their favorite classic content creators, and they’re calling themselves “LarpTubers.”

The LarpTuber wave started in mid-May with a YouTuber called Larpiplier. If you couldn’t guess from the name, Larpiplier’s channel is all about emulating Markiplier as accurately as possible. He talks like Markiplier, he makes similar content to Markiplier, and his YouTube channel icon is even an extremely close copy of Markiplier’s.

Larpiplier’s channel has proved very successful so far, earning him over 100,000 subscribers in around a month. This inspired a wave of other LarpTubers to rise up and pull out their best acting chops to LARP as classic 2010s-era YouTubers like Keemstar, LeafyIsHere, Technoblade and more.

While the LarpTuber movement is technically all about copying other creators, it’s being celebrated on sites like TikTok through edits and memes, most of which tout it as an homage and welcome nostalgic return to a bygone era of YouTube.

Cheesy Michael

A series of pranking videos by TikToker @nnichetony, also known as Tony, recently introduced users to a mysterious character named “Cheesy Michael,” and now, he’s inspired a song that’s gotten itself stuck in everyone’s heads.

Tony started pulling pranks on his elusive and possibly non-existent roommate, Cheesy Michael, back at the end of 2025.

Each of these pranks follows the same premise: Tony balances something on Cheesy Michael’s door handle, then beckons him to open the door so the item falls off and “destroys his life.” Only, Cheesy Michael is never seen opening the door and falling for the prank. Maybe he’s too smart.

One of the more recent pranks involved putting an egg on Cheesy Michael’s door, but this time, Tony didn’t just repeatedly call his name. An angelic voice also chimed in, singing a song that goes, “Cheesy Michael open up the door,” to the tune of “Sinking Town” by Yoeko Kurahashi.

Now, the song has become a huge trend as TikTokers post their best covers of it. Some imagine it in a new style, and some stick with the classic.

So, what does Cheesy Michael think of all this? If only there were a way to get him out of his room, maybe we could find out.

Kane Parsons “He Is 20 Years Old”

Hey, did you know that Kane Parsons, director of the acclaimed 2026 horror film Backrooms, is only 20 years old and that makes him the youngest director of an A24 movie ever? Yeah, us neither.

The Kane Parsons memes have been going strong on X all week, and they’ve only become more bizarre with each iteration. This meme format uses a pretty normal headshot of Parsons against a Backrooms-yellow background, alongside captions that are eager to remind you he’s 20 years old.

The joke is based on how much the media reported on this fact while promoting The Backrooms movie, to the point where it became the one thing that most people knew about Parsons.

Many of the memes attribute fake quotes to Parsons, where he comments on a wide variety of things, including his thoughts on being such a young director.

Only now, most of the memes feature absurd edits of Parsons and strive to make as little sense as possible, depicting him going through horrific transformations with that signature grin.

Du Bist Gut Genug

Finally, we have a song straight out of Germany that comes to us from producer Kitschkrieg, rapper Shirin David and musical duo Blumengarten, called “Gut Genug,” and it might just be the song of the summer.

Well, part of it might be the song of the summer. Specifically, people have fallen in love with the portion of the song sung by Rayan, one-half of Blumengarten.

In the viral clip, Rayan uses his best falsetto to sing, “Du bist gut genug,” which means, “You are good enough.” It’s very touching, and the man arguably has the voice of an angel, which helped get the song stuck in everyone’s heads.

Mostly, however, people are taking the song and attaching it to clips of Cleveland Jr. singing from The Cleveland Show. Beyond that, some are making stylistic edits of Rayan’s part of the song, while others are posting memes that purposefully misunderstand the lyrics phonetically, translating them into nonsense phrases like “doobie scoot canoe.”

Over on YouTube, people are uploading cuts of the song that take out rapper Shirin David and simply loop Rayan’s part, highlighting it as the undeniable banger that it is.
