KCGI launches Korea fund pairing growth stocks with prime bonds

What’s the deal? KCGI Asset Management on 13 August 2026 launched the “KCGI Korea Growth Leadership 50 Securities Investment Trust [Bond-Mixed],” a fund that combines domestic growth stocks with high-quality bonds. It caps the stock portion at under 50% and allocates more than half to bonds, aiming to cushion equity volatility while earning steady interest income.

How it works: On the equity side, the fund uses an all-cap strategy covering large, small, and mid caps, targeting both traditional growth stocks and companies expected to see asset revaluation. The portfolio concentrates on 15 to 30 names, screened with quantitative indicators and managed with step-by-step stop-loss thresholds.

The bond half: More than 50% of assets go into government and government-guaranteed bonds, bank bonds, specialised credit finance company bonds, AA- or higher corporate bonds, and A1 or higher commercial paper. It targets a duration of about 1.1 years and seeks extra returns from interest-rate moves and relative value across bond sectors.

Who runs it? Equity management is led by Kim Hyeong-seok, who has 11 years of growth-stock investing and on-site corporate research experience. Bonds are handled by Hong Sa-uk, head of the bond management division, with more than 20 years of experience.

The details: The fund is open-ended with no maturity and allows early redemptions without a fee. Its risk rating is Level 4, or moderate risk.

The signal: KCGI is pitching a simple 50-50 formula as an alternative to complex allocation. A company official cited index-fund founder John Bogle, who advised that a “50% stocks + 50% bonds” portfolio “can be an excellent alternative for individual investors,” framing the product as a defensive bet on the long-term growth of the Korean stock market.
