Valley nonprofit health clinic to aid Texas hurricane victims

Clinica Sierra Vista, the nonprofit health care clinic operator with nearly a dozen offices in Fresno County, will be loading a 44-foot-long mobile unit from Bakersfield and sending it to Texas on Thursday to help people who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Four employees will be traveling to Texas with medical supplies, water and additional necessities. The mobile unit features exam rooms, equipment and restrooms. Clinica Sierra Vista is donating the staff time and supplies, but welcomed contributions to help defray expenses.

Employees will be leaving from their East Bakersfield Dental complex, 1125 E. California Ave. at 9:30 a.m.

As of Thursday, 31 people were reported dead after the major hurricane hit northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas.
