Signs economy performing well: Treasurer

There are early indications next week’s official growth figures will show the economy continues to perform well, Treasurer Scott Morrison believes.

However, that would have to be balanced against the impact of Cyclone Debbie in late March which Treasury estimates will trim growth by a quarter of a percentage point in the June quarter.

“The emerging sense of confidence surrounding the global economy further bolsters our own confidence that better days are indeed ahead,” Mr Morrison told a Bloomberg conference in Sydney on Thursday.
