Delta Corp: Market Now: Delta Corp, Sobha pull Nifty Realty index into the green zone

NEW DELHI: Gains in Delta Corp (up 3.64 per cent), Godrej Properties (up 2.36 per cent), Sobha (up 1.53 per cent) and Oberoi Realty (up 0.80 per cent) pulled Nifty Realty index into the positive territory while other sectoral indices were losing in Thursday’s trade.

The Nifty Realty index was trading 0.49 per cent up at 278 around 10.20 am (IST).

However, The Phoenix Mills (down 1.24 per cent), Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) (down 0.40 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate (down 0.39 per cent) and DLF (down 0.16 per cent) were losing in the index.

Besides realty, only Nifty Media index was marginally up by 0.03 per cent at 2,966 around that time.

Stock markets turned weak today as investors adopted a cautious approach in view of August derivatives expiry and release of key macroeconomic data later in the day.

Mixed Asian cues failed to lift the sentiment.

IT and Pharma companies were leading among losers, with Bharti Infratel, Dr Reddy’s, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel at the bottom in the Nifty index.

On the contrary, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, Wipro, Reliance Industries and Gail gained over 1 per cent in the Nifty index.

In the Nifty50 pack, 18 stocks were trading in green, while 32 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,170 stocks were advancing whereas 765 stocks were lagging.
